DETHKLOK UPDATE- Special Metal Guest VO (I'm naming names)
Hey guys just a quick update on the DETHKLOK front:
First of all DETHKLOK premieres August 6th. Stay alive until then please. thank you.
Production is going really well. The show's look has totally exceeded mine and Tommy's expectations. We are working with the best artisist I've met (or haven't met)- not that I haven't met the Dethklok artists I have. and they're awesome. Awesome at art.
Adult Swim is now airing a short teaser trailer of the show so check that out.
And yes me and Tommy went to SF and recorded James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet from Metallica. They were awesome. period. I'm a HUUUUGE Metallica fan and grew up on 'Master. . .' and 'Ride. . . so I was all 'stomache batsy' and 'throw uppy in my mouthy' to meet them. And they were very funny and awesome. To our relief. Thank god they were so good.
And I'm REALLY excited about this: Last Friday we recorded Michael Amott (amazing guitarist) and man behind the kick ass band ARCH ENEMY. If you haven't checked out Arch Enemy. do so. Michael was hilarious. And played a couple characters.
Afterwards we were joined with Jeff Loomis, Warrel Dane, and Steve Smythe of Seattle band NEVERMORE. Dudes. They were, again, great. Such a pleasure for me to hang out with these guys, huge huge respect and admiration. Check out NEVERMORE if you haven't. and pay attention to how awesome Steve and Jeff's guitar playing is. Jeff's economy picking makes me curse my fat little sweaty fingers and weep. Hugely inspirational.
Big thanks to Jody Dankberg from KRANK for putting us in touch with these dudes (who all play KRANK amps by the way).
We filmed the session and will either podcast them on the ADULT SWIM podcasts- or compile them for the Dethklok DVD special features. (we got some cool footage of me and Michael Amott talking about dumb guitar stuff, very cool- later we talked about Herzog movies but I don't know if that was filmed. . . ) and also you can download ADULT SWIM podcasts of me and Tommy talking about the show. Just go to itunes and click on the ADULT SWIM podcasts. . . (there's some stuff, early stages, but they'll be updatesd and you can follow the production up to the premiere)
later that night me, tommy, and john schnepp (director, artst, created the look of the characters) went and saw Arch Enemy and Nevermore play at the House of Blues. It was the most fun I'd had in a long long time. We'd seen Both bands a few times before and it was great- but after having worked with them it was even cooler. I know i sound like a fat dorky fan. But thats only because I am.
We have more metal dudes that we're actively tracking down and putting on the show. I'm very happy that I have a job where I can contact my heroes and force them to work with me at the expense of lingering showbusiness awkwardness. If that isn't metal I don't know what is. Metal.

We'll be (me and Tommy) at SXSW this weekend playing some 'teaser' live tunes from the show on Sunday March 19th at 7:30 pm- at:
RedRum
401 Sabine (behind Gas Pipe)
Austin, TX 78702
(i have no further info so if you want to know more get in touch with the venue!)
Please come by!
ALSO
In Dethklok news- things have been going nice and smoothly except one thing. Me and Tommy and (Ernie my dog) went up to SF to record a particular Metal band (who will go unnamed- for now) It went great. A real awesome expeirence for me directing a couple heroes of mine.
On our way back I crashed and totaled our rental car. I was going about 70mh and I saw a coyote cross crossing and I broke. Crash. flip. flop. Roll. Everybody is totally fine. Especially Ernie.
Also Home Movies DVD is being put together. We have some special commentary tracks form cast members (including Jon Benjamen, Melissa Galsky, and Ron Lynch) but also some tracks from Marty Crandall and James Mercer from "The Shins" and Isaac Brock from "Modest Mouse" Two bands that I dig a lot. (I know they're not Norwegian Black Metal.)
talk to you soon.

HOME MOVIES CD WITH SEASON 4 DVD!
The season 4 box set will officially include all the crappy music I wrote so that you may have it and quit bothering me about it. I'm kidding- you may still bother me about it after you have it.
But it will have 52 tracks- I have them posted here http://blog.myspace.com/brendonsmall - it's pretty much got everything - but people are already managing to complain about what it doesn't have already. did i mention it's FREE with the DVD?
OTHER NEWS- DETHKLOK is moving forward at a strong steady pace- The ARTWORK is insanely good. I am incredibly lucky to work with such a talented group of people.
Mark Hammill will be a recurring character named SENATOR STAMPINGSTON- so excited i'm throwing up through my nose.
I have some secret and amazing Heavy Metal personalities who will be appearing on the show but I wont tell you yet who they are- in fact I may never- i might- but i want it to be a surprise. . .
I spent last week at SUNDANCE- while I was there I did a presentation on music and animation and METAL and DETHKLOK- I played live guitar (a white gibson Explorer) to some early stage storyboards to the "Coffee Jingle" sequence- I was very happy to see everybody that turned out.
I wrote an article for "Pro Techniques" (an online- and E publication for musicians) on how to get an awesome METAL guitar tone using Plug ins- Also I discuss DETHKLOK- not sure when thats posting. . .
And yes I will be atteneding and playing a short DETHKLOK set at SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST some time between the 15th and 19th of MARCH.
And it's almost my birthday. Feb 15th. I'm hoping some crazy millionaire old lady Home Movies fan approaches me with a plasma screen- as that is all i care about these days.
Metal to all of you my friends,
and thank you for looking FWD to DETHKLOK (whether or not you think you are).

hey-
i've been really busy working on DETHKLOK the new animated metal show. but i've been getting your e mails and reading them all. Thanks to all of you who have written i E-Love/like you all.
we're knee deep in pre production for DKLOK and it's going really well. Just writing and artwork. Also I've gotten back to a scheduled regimin of shred guitar practice. Dropping down to C tuning and checking out as much live metal as i can. The crappy 15 year old inside of me is very happy.
Also with Dethklok we have endorsement deals with Gibson guitars, Dunlop Products and KRANK amps so please check out all their gear. I love it all and am honored to endorse it.
here's a little sampler of some dethklok artwork and music http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/674/674238p1.html
also here's a recent radio interview i did (talking about Home Movies Season 3 and Dethklok)
Home Movies: http://libsyn.com/media/tsoya/tsoya12105.mp3
DETHKLOK: http://libsyn.com/media/tsoya/tsoyabrendonsmall.mp3
Also I will be going away to Sweden in March to act and be a Technical Advisor for the movie "Lords of Chaos" (based n the book by the same name.)
did i mention that season 3 of HOME MOVIES is available on DVD? it is. and season 4 should be following shortly after.
but again, if you've written me and i haven't gotten back to you please blame ernie. my dog. he's in charge of my public realtions. like tom cruises sister- i like to keep it in the family.
back to writing with me.

Hey there.
it's been a while but I'm back to blog about stuff.
Home Movies Season 3 is out November 15th- this is one of my favorite seasons so i'm excited about that.
ALSO
You might hear my voice in a few episodes of the new season of VENTURE BROS. (a very great show that you should check out if you haven't) but it was a real pleasure doing that.
I got to direct Fred Willard in some spots for PETA's 25th anniversary Gala- that was really cool because he had to do what I told him. And even cooler was seeing how hard the PETA organization has worked to help animals over that last 25 years.
I'm doing a show this friday When: Friday Sep 30, 2005
at 8:00 PM
Where: Hangar 1018
1018 S.Santa Fe Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90
And every saturday night at midnight "THE TOMORROW SHOW" at the STEVE ALLEN THEATER

I did an interview with Laura Jacqmin from www.saltmag.net
She asked questions dealing with music, and i think it turned out pretty cool. So if you want to know some of my musical background and stuff check it out. I think she did a great job.

i've been very busy writing and rewriting this sci fi project and the new adult swimshow DETHKLOK (which might end up being the spelling for legal reasons) and all i have to say is "writing is hard" and it hurts my hands- even writing this is difficult for me because i'm so stupid/handsome.
anyway i guess me and co creator loren bouchard will be doing a "signing event" at this year's COMIC CON at the SHOUTFACTORY (dvd compamy) booth- so look for us amongst the way too old San Diego padawaans and all of the matrix's who each think they're "the one".
back to writing with me. somebody please bring me some thai food.

just got finished doing commentary for season 2 Home Movies DVD today. This time Melissa joined me and loren. Our goal was to be a little more informational than blatantly absurdist. So those of you that want more background info for the show will be pleased or annoyed, either one is fine with me. tomorrow we'll be doing some on camera stuff. I hope to lose 14 pounds by then.
i hope to see some of you in Austin or NY in march.
blogging off.

hey everyone.
i'm currently putting together a featurette for the season 2 Home Movies DVD. I'm video-filming as many of the actors that have been on Home Movies including Ron Lynch, Andy Kindler, David Cross, Laura Silverman, Janine Ditullio, Jonathan Katz, Eugene Mirman and many many more. . . I think it'll be cool or crappy- either one is fine with me. Also just found out that Melissa Galsky will appearing on the commentary tracks that we will be recording ion the next couple weeks.
I'm working on two animated shows at once- these shows are still in their infancy and might never make it to air but I like them both a alot- DEATHCLOCK on Adult Swim and "The Barbarian Chronicles" on SCi Fi. I'm also working on a new secret live action pilot with a producer at Fox- this is another show I like a great deal- but my standards are pretty low and I'm usually pretty drunk so there.
I'll be doing a lecture type thing on March 22nd at NYU. I'm looking fwd to bringing my "School Sucks" message-ry to the east coast, my goal (by the time I'm finished) will be to ELIMINATE HOMEWORK.
Also I will be appearing in AUSTIn TX with my buddy Tommy to play some music including DEATHCLOCK song(s). Matt Mollero (sp?) and Dave Willis (sp?) will be there too, so that should be fun(sp?).

if y'all want to know what's new here's some cool news. I'm working with cartoon network on a new show that i created with my friend Tommy Blacha about a DEATH METAL band called "DEATHCLOCK"- lots and lots of new original music to come. I posted the theme song in the MEDIA section so check it out- i dare you to try to figure out the lyrics, if you can I'll come to your home town and make love to you and your enemies- but back to the "DEATHCLOCK" mp3, expect fast guitar and cookie monster vocals. This show will include much shredding and murder. It will be exciting.
I'm having some meetings re: season 2 of home movies. I'll post something when we figure out what the special features will be. And yes I'm aware of the commentary level issues so that will be corrected, and yes I will try to wear less clothes (for all of my lady and gay fans- i'm getting the e mails!)
And once again I am reading all of your emails!!! But I have 5 projects going on right now and am trying to go back and return them(not the projects the other things that i was talking about)! You guys are super awesome and can't wait to get the next few projects out there!
MORE LATER my sweet morning angels.

Hey Everybody!
We just finished the special features for the Home Movies Season 1 DVD!
We recorded a lot of commentary tracks, and i think they turned out pretty funny. Also there will be on camera interviews myself, Jon Benjamen (JAson, McGuirk) and co coreator Loren Bouchard- I also included some of my own actual Home Movies that I've been working on recently that I think you'll enjoy including a fake guitar instructional video called the "Thor Von Clemson Advanced Fast Hand Finger Wizard Master Class" Also I included a fantastic "Horse Documentary" That I think you'll find rather interesting (you'lll know what I mean when you get the DVD. . .)
But as a gigntic DVD connisuer (sp?) I only like the DVD's with really good special features and I feel very good about what we've been working on for this. Also you should know that season two isn't too far off from being released. And if the sales are good we'll be able to get to season 3 and 4 all the faster.
In other news I'm still workig on the new animated project, but right now in hollywood it's "developement season" meaning that I go out and pitch even more shows! Isn't Hollywood great? But I'm going out to pitch two shows this season both live action, I think the ideas are pretty cool and I think you'll like them too. I'll keep you posted as things unfold.
Also If you're in LA the 24th or the 31st of august please come by and check out "The Brendon Small Show" at the steve allen theatre. It's a show based around some characters that I play, i also show some movies that i made, i also have a great cast of friends making some special appearences. So check it out, you'll have a great time.
that's all for now,

Hey guys-
For those of you that are interested I'm in developement with World Wide Pants and Sci Fi on the early stages of another animated project currently entitled "Morth" which is (the simple pitch) a cross between Lord of the rings and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (you fill in the blanks) (for the record I'm not joking- just so you know)
Anyway, I have a script deal which means that I write a script and see if they like it- if they do we animate a mini pilot. And then we probably test market it for a million years and then it never gets done because it's "too good" for "people".
But my point is, that if it gets done and or sees daylight it will be a cool show that I think y'all will dig. So there.
Also watch the new season of RENO 911! It's a super funny show that if you watch closely you'll see my stupid face on (2 or 3 episodes).
Another cool show to watch is "Cheap Seats" With Randy and Jason Sklar. It's VERY FUNNY and also you'll see my stupid face at the end of July! ( I'll get the specific dates for all the TV stuff)
